I hang drywall with staggered seams, screws at the right spacing, and joints broken across studs so you don't get the line of every sheet telegraphing through the finish. Around windows, doors, and corners I use corner bead that's actually straight and protected — paper-faced metal bead on outside corners, not the thin vinyl that dents the first time something hits it.
Finishing is three coats — tape, fill, and skim — sanded between each, with the feathering wide enough that the joint disappears under flat paint. I match existing texture: orange peel, knockdown, skip-trowel, and the hand-applied patterns common in the older Tulsa and Claremore homes. A patch that doesn't match the surrounding texture is more obvious than the original damage, and I won't leave you with one.
